Grout Application Grouting Services
Grouting Services covers regrouting, marble gum grouting, and epoxy grouting for tiled and stone surfaces across Singapore homes and businesses. The right solution depends on whether the existing grout needs cleaning, replacing, or upgrading.
Grout does more than fill the gap between tiles. It affects how a surface looks, how well it resists water and staining, and how long the tiles around it stay in good condition. When grout cracks, discolours, or comes loose, the problem usually gets worse rather than better on its own.
Three services sit under this category, each suited to a different grout problem or goal.
For standard grout that has cracked, discoloured, or deteriorated over time. This removes the old grout where needed and replaces it with new cement-based grout, matched to the tile and joint size.
Explore Cement-Based Regrouting →For homogeneous, porcelain, or granite tiles where the old grout lines are replaced with marble gum for a seamless, glossy, marble-like finish. This is a different technique from standard regrouting, suited to tiles where a smoother, more uniform joint is wanted.
Explore Marble Gum Grouting →A waterproof, stain-resistant grout upgrade, generally used in kitchens, bathrooms, and other wet areas, or for new tile installations. Epoxy grouting is a material upgrade rather than a like-for-like repair for existing cement grout.
Explore Epoxy Grouting →“Why is the grout in my bathroom turning dark?” Mould, moisture, and soap residue build up in porous grout over time, which is often a sign it needs cleaning or replacing rather than just a fresh scrub.
“The grout is cracking or crumbling.” This usually means the grout has reached the end of its lifespan and needs to be removed and replaced.
“Some grout lines are missing completely.” Missing grout exposes the tile edges and the surface underneath to water, which should be addressed rather than left as is.
“The grout feels loose or hollow when I press on it.” This can mean the grout has failed to bond properly and needs to be replaced.
“There's a musty smell near the tiles.” This is often linked to moisture trapped in or behind damaged grout.
Cleaning may be appropriate when: the grout is structurally sound and the main issue is surface dirt or staining.
Regrouting may be appropriate when: the grout is cracked, missing, loose, or significantly deteriorated.
The right approach depends on the condition of the existing grout, confirmed during an on-site assessment.
Grouting work is most often needed in bathrooms, kitchens, and shower areas, where tiles are exposed to constant moisture. It also comes up in living areas, common areas, and commercial spaces with tiled or stone flooring, wherever grout lines have worn down or been affected by water.
Inspect: the existing grout is examined for cracking, staining, looseness, or missing sections.
Identify: the underlying issue is identified, whether that's age, moisture, or a material mismatch.
Select: the appropriate grout system is selected, cement-based, marble gum, or epoxy, based on the tile and the problem.
Complete: the work is completed and the finish checked before the job is signed off.
Grout choice depends on the tile type, how much moisture the area sees, and the finish a client wants. Mapei and Sika grout products are used for cement-based and epoxy grouting work, selected to suit the specific job.

If the grout is structurally sound and just dirty or stained, cleaning is usually enough. If it's cracked, missing, loose, or crumbling, replacement is the more practical option. A site assessment confirms which applies.
This depends on the size of the area and how much of the existing grout needs to be removed first. Most bathroom or kitchen jobs are completed within a few days, confirmed during the quote.
Yes. Bathrooms and kitchens are two of the most common areas for regrouting, since tiles there are exposed to constant moisture and daily use.
Cement-based grout is the standard, more affordable option and is what most existing grout lines are made of. Epoxy grout is a waterproof, stain-resistant upgrade, generally used in wet areas or new installations rather than as a direct repair.
Yes. Marble and stone joints can be regrouted or refinished with marble gum grouting, depending on the tile type and the look a client wants. This is assessed alongside any wider Marble & Stone Care needs.
The right choice depends on the tile type, the condition of the existing grout, and how the area is used. The team can recommend the appropriate option, cement-based, marble gum, or epoxy, during a free assessment.
